Viña Ardanza Rioja Reserva

Viña Ardanza is one of the most famous Reservas of Rioja — a wine that consistently continues the classic Temperillo-Garnacha line of the region: warm, structured, with long oak aging.

La Rioja Alta was founded in Haro in 1890 and is one of the most traditional wineries in the Barrio de la Estación—the district where the large wineries clustered around the train station, as the train brought wine to northern Europe. For decades, the Ardanza has been the winery's flagship mid-range wine: a Tempranillo blend with a touch of Garnacha, aged in American oak according to classic Rioja tradition.

In the glass, it displays ripe sour cherry, plum jam, and wild strawberry, mingling with vanilla, cedarwood, tobacco, and a hint of coffee chocolate—the result of several years of barrel aging. The body is full, the tannins are soft and well-integrated, and the finish is warm and long with a slightly sweet oak note.

Recommendation: Lamb loin with herb crust, chorizo stew, or aged Manchego cheese. Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Easily available now, with potential until 2030.

La Rioja Alta

La Rioja Alta, SA – behind this name lies one of the most venerable names in Spanish winemaking. For over 130 years, people have worked here with a clear philosophy: patience is not a luxury, but the foundation for great wine. The winery is located in the heart of the Rioja Alta and has never been driven by trends. Instead, they focus on long barrel aging, hand-picked grapes, and a deep understanding of their vineyards. The result? Wines you won't forget – with red fruits, delicate spices, and a velvety warmth that lingers on the palate. Sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a lived practice: Viña Alberdi was recently awarded Sustainable Wine Product of the Year – proof that tradition and responsibility go hand in hand. Four wineries, four regions – from Rioja to the Rías Baixas. But no matter where you look: the same care, the same passion.
