Hugl/Wimmer Grüner Veltliner Classic

Hugl/Wimmer Grüner Veltliner Classic
A typical Lower Austrian wine with a clear profile: The Grüner Veltliner Classic from Hugl/Wimmer shows what this grape variety is all about — without any detours.
The Hugl/Wimmer winery operates within the Lower Austrian winemaking tradition and focuses on uncomplicated, single-varietal production for its Classic wine: gentle pressing, controlled cooling, fermentation and aging exclusively in stainless steel tanks. No oak, no distractions—the grape variety takes center stage. The 2016 vintage received a gold medal at the AWC Vienna.
In the glass, it displays a pale straw yellow. The nose is clearly typical of Grüner Veltliner: white pepper, a hint of grapefruit, and some stone fruit. On the palate, it is juicy with noticeable, fresh acidity, medium body, and the characteristic peppery finish that makes a Grüner Veltliner Classic so appealing.
Serving suggestion: Well chilled at 10–12 °C. Pairs well with Wiener Schnitzel, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, baked fish, or spicy Liptauer cheese spread. Also a great choice as a simple aperitif. Drink now.

Hugl/Wimmer
The Hugl winery is one of Austria's young, up-and-coming businesses, which Martin Hugl and his wife Sylvia took over from his father a few years ago. Nestled in the idyllic wine region near the Czech border, the winery is located in the small town of Poysdorf, in the heart of the picturesque Weinviertel. Since 2021, Hugl wines have been entitled to bear the "Sustainable Austria" quality seal. From vineyard work to winemaking and bottling, our entire operation underwent a thorough sustainability review. The certification process assessed the economical use of water, energy, and chemical fertilizers, the efficient use of machinery, fair working conditions, and sustainable business practices.
