The Hugl winery is one of Austria's young, up-and-coming businesses, which the young Martin Hugl, just 25 years old, took over from his father two years ago together with his wife Sylvia. Nestled in the idyllic wine region near the Czech border, the winery is located in the small town of Poysdorf, in the heart of the picturesque Weinviertel. Only the finest grapes are harvested and processed with extensive experience and expertise. After harvesting, the ripe grapes are destemmed and fermented on the skins. The wine is then aged in large oak barrels. Hugl's Blauer Zweigelt is a ruby-red estate wine with a refreshing fruitiness, pleasant acidity, and slightly velvety tannins – balanced and harmonious.

How does the Hugl Zweigelt taste – is it light or full-bodied?
It sits pleasantly in the middle: ruby red color, fresh fruit, lively acidity, and slightly velvety tannins. Aging in large oak barrels gives it structure without making it heavy – balanced and easy to drink.
What does the Zweigelt pair best with?
Classically with poultry, veal, or braised dishes. Those who grill will be well-served with a steak or Iberico pork. It also cuts a fine figure with goose – its fruity character stands up to the roasting fat.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Best between 14 and 16 °C – i.e., slightly chilled, not room temperature. This allows the fruit and fresh acidity to best come into their own.
Is the 1-liter Zweigelt suitable for a larger group?
Well-suited for four people as an accompaniment to a meal – the liter bottle also makes it economically attractive for a table of two or as a second bottle during dinner.
How should I store the bottle if I do not open it immediately?
Cool, dark, and lying down – ideally between 10 and 14 °C. A normal cellar or a wine fridge is perfectly sufficient.

In the dreamy wine landscape near the Czech border, the winery is located in the middle of the idyllic Weinviertel, in the small town of Poysdorf. From 2021, Hugl wines are allowed to carry the "Sustainable Austria" quality seal.
From the work in the vineyard to the aging of the wines and the bottling, our company was examined on the subject of sustainability. Economical use of water, energy, chemical fertilizers, and efficient use of machinery, as well as fair working conditions and sustainable economic practices, were evaluated during the certification.
