In the dreamy wine landscape near the Czech border, the winery is located in the middle of the idyllic Weinviertel, in the small town of Poysdorf.
Only the best grape material is harvested and processed with a lot of experience and know-how. The ripe grapes are destemmed after the harvest and fermented on the mash. Aging takes place in large oak barrels.
The Zweigelt Classic from the Hugl winery is a ruby-red complex red wine and is reminiscent of sour cherry and cherry aroma, pleasant tannin, powerful body, long finish.

How does the Zweigelt Classic from Hugl/Wimmer taste?
Ruby red Zweigelt from the Weinviertel with aromas of sour cherry and cherry, pleasantly soft tannins, and a powerful, long finish. Produced dry, aged in large oak barrels — round and accessible.
What does this Zweigelt pair best with?
Classically with lamb and steak, but also with braised dishes like beef goulash or ossobuco. The soft tannins and cherry fruit harmonize well with hearty meat without dominating.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Ideally at 14–16 °C — slightly chilled from the cellar, not from the refrigerator. This allows the fruit and structure to come to the fore most clearly.
Is this a heavy red wine or rather light?
Rather medium-bodied: 12.9% vol., powerful body, but no excessive weight. It is suitable for everyday use and uncomplicated — not a wine that needs hours of decanting time.
How should I store the bottle?
Store cool, dark, and lying down at about 12–14 °C — classic cellar conditions. The 750-ml bottle is sealed with a standard cork, so protect it from strong temperature fluctuations.

Hugl/Wimmer
The Hugl winery is one of Austria's young, up-and-coming companies, which Martin Hugl took over from his father a few years ago together with his wife Sylvia. In the dreamy wine landscape near the Czech border, the winery is located in the middle of the idyllic Weinviertel, in the small town of Poysdorf. From 2021, Hugl wines are allowed to carry the "Sustainable Austria" quality seal.
From the work in the vineyard to the aging of the wines and the bottling, our company was examined on the subject of sustainability. Economical use of water, energy, chemical fertilizers, and efficient use of machinery, as well as fair working conditions and sustainable economic practices, were evaluated during the certification.
