Gesellmann OP Eximium No. 35
Dark ruby garnet, a hint of smoke on the nose, juicy cherries on the palate — the OP Eximium No 35 from the Gesellmann winery shows what Burgenland can do when craftsmanship and location come together.
Gesellmann is one of the pioneers of Austrian red wine. The family estate in Deutschkreutz in central Burgenland has been working with international and local grape varieties for decades — the focus is on powerful, age-worthy red wines that combine the warmth of the Pannonian plain with Burgundian elegance.
In the glass: dark ruby garnet with violet reflections. The nose opens with ripe blackberry, delicate smoke, herbal spice, and a subtle nougat note. On the palate, juicy and dense—ripe cherries, fine, well-integrated tannins, the finish brings fresh wild berry jam with pleasant length.
Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Pairs well with wild boar loin , grilled lamb with rosemary, or mature hard cheese. If opening the wine now, decant it for at least 30 minutes.
The Gesellmann winery from Deutschkreutz in Burgenland stands for something that isn't always found in the wine world: genuine conviction. Gratitude, mindfulness, joy in nature – these aren't marketing buzzwords here, but the foundation upon which every bottle is created.
Gesellmann's wines reflect Burgenland in its powerful, warm character – profound, expressive, and with an unmistakable personality. Let yourself be surprised by this fascinating winery.
