Escudo Rojo Gran Reserva

Escudo Rojo comes from the Valle Central, south of Santiago, Chile. The vineyards are situated in small valleys between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains. At an altitude of 800–1200 meters, the region offers the vines optimal growing conditions with significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, cooling influences from the sea, abundant sunshine, and the alluvial soils of the Andes, which contribute considerable complexity to the wine. The name Escudo Rojo (meaning "red shield") is derived from the family name and recalls a red shield that the Frankfurt banking family Amschel Mayer Rothschild placed at the entrance to their home in the 18th century. The Escudo Rojo label symbolizes the name and incorporates the family's heraldic colors of blue and yellow. The first vintage of Escudo Rojo was vinified in 1999. The Escudo Rojo is a deep cherry red in color, its aroma defined by elegant, fruity notes of ripe berries and sweet cherries, combined with warm spice and delicate balsamic hints, a touch of mint, and cedar. The palate is full-bodied, juicy, and vibrant, with a harmonious balance of lush fruit, robust spices, and perfectly integrated oak. The finish is lively and well-structured with a pleasing length.
