Domaine Chanson Pernand-Vergelesses Les Vergelesses Premier Cru

Domaine Chanson's Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru "Les Vergelesses" comes from one of the quiet gems of the Côte de Beaune — less well known than Pommard or Volnay, but with the potential to surprise both.

Domaine Chanson cultivates a contiguous plot of 5.4 hectares in this climate—a remarkable size for Burgundy. The vineyard lies in a natural depression at the foot of the Corton hill, where clay and limestone create a soil structure that lends the Pinot Noir both depth and vibrancy. Chanson is one of the oldest négociant houses in the Côte de Beaune, founded in 1750, and has been consistently focused on quality since its acquisition by the Bollinger Group.

In the glass, it displays a deep, dark violet color. The nose offers ripe black cherry, cassis, and blackberry, underpinned by clove and a hint of toasted oak. On the palate, it has a dense, velvety texture with firmly integrated tannins—no harsh bite, but noticeable backbone. The finish is long, with a spicy, mineral note that hints at the limestone subsoil.

Drinking window from 2025, with aging potential until 2032. Serving temperature: 16–17 °C. Pairs well with braised lamb shoulder, entrecôte with herb butter or a robust Époisses.

Domaine Chanson

Domaine Chanson, founded in 1750, is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in Burgundy. It is among the few estates that have survived since the 18th century. Since 1999, it has been part of the Bollinger Group, which has undertaken extensive restorations and modernizations to make the winery one of the finest in Burgundy. Nestled amidst picturesque hills, the 45 hectares of vineyards flourish in the most prestigious appellations, including Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Chablis. Here, tradition and modernity blend seamlessly, creating a unique symbiosis that imparts a distinctive character to each wine. The historic Bastion, a 15th-century wine cellar, is the heart of the estate. Within these venerable walls, the wines mature to true perfection under ideal conditions. Each bottle tells a story of dedication and craftsmanship.
