Condrieu La Galopine AC 0.75L

Condrieu is the home of Viognier — and Delas is one of the houses that has shaped this appellation in the northern Rhône for decades. The La Galopine comes from selected parcels on the steep granite and slate terraces that give Viognier its characteristic tension: plenty of sun, barren soils, dramatic hillside location.

In the glass, the wine glows straw yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose, it shows the typical Viognier profile of the appellation: apricot, white peach, jasmine, and a hint of ginger. The palate is full-bodied, yet not heavy — the granite terraces provide a mineral line that gives the wine freshness and length. The finish is aromatic and lingering.

It is best served at 12–14 °C — cooler than many think, so that the aromatics do not collapse. Classic companions are grilled lobster, scallops with saffron sauce, or a creamy chicken with morels. This Viognier also works surprisingly well with spicy Thai curry with coconut milk.

Delas

Maison Delas Frères – the soul of the Rhône Valley. A traditional house since 1835, but 1996 brought a turning point. Fabrice Rosset and oenologist Jacques Grange took over – and transformed Delas into one of the "Big Four" of the Rhône. Grange, with his Burgundian experience, focuses on elegance rather than sheer power. Vinification by individual parcel, an uncompromising focus on terroir. 32 hectares of their own top vineyards: Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Crozes-Hermitage. The result: wines with freshness, depth, and character. In 2019, Delas moved into its new cellar in Tain-l'Hermitage – after almost 190 years, finally seeing the light where it belongs. The Rhône as it should taste.
