Casa Rojo La Marimorena

La Marimorena is the white wine from Casa Rojo that shows what Spain has to offer beyond Tempranillo and Garnacha: fresh, lively, and with a clear varietal identity.

Casa Rojo was founded in 2005 by José Ramón Ropero and works with winemakers from various Spanish regions. La Marimorena is based on Albariño from the Rías Baixas wine-growing region in Galicia — an Atlantic-influenced coastal region in northwestern Spain, where cool temperatures and high rainfall lay the foundation for aromatic, acidity-driven white wines. The vines grow on granitic soils, which give the wine its characteristic minerality.

In the glass, La Marimorena reveals aromas of white peach, citrus zest, and a hint of fresh herbs. The acidity is lively and clearly structured, the body is lean, and the finish is marked by a fine salinity — typical for Albariño from near the sea.

Served well-chilled at 8–10 °C, it pairs excellently with grilled octopus, mussels in white wine, prawns, or a light goat cheese salad. It also makes a great impression as an uncomplicated aperitif on warm evenings.
