Casa Rojo Viñas Bastardas

A red wine from Spain that carries its unconventional name with attitude: The Bastardas vines from Casa Rojo grow in old vineyards, whose mixed planting of various native grape varieties forms the heart of this wine. Casa Rojo is a modern Spanish winery that collaborates with producers from different regions, focusing on old vines and traditional cultivation methods — wines with character instead of polished mass-produced goods.

In the glass, it shows a powerful ruby red. The nose opens with dark berries — blackberry, plum — and an earthy undertone reminiscent of dried herbs and liquorice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with soft, ripe tannins and a lively acidity structure that brings freshness to the body. The finish is long, spicy, and slightly smoky.

Served at 16–18 °C, it pairs well with grilled lamb, grilled chorizo, or a strong Manchego. For those who prefer it uncomplicated: an evening with friends, rustic bread, good oil — this wine does not need a grand occasion.
