Abtsberg Riesling Spätlese PW Mosel 0.75L

From the Abtsberg, one of the great Riesling sites of the Mosel, comes this Spätlese with the typical tension between residual sweetness and lively acidity that distinguishes the Mosel from all other wine regions in Germany.

Maximin Grünhaus is one of the historically most significant wineries on the Mosel — the estate near Mertesdorf on the Ruwer dates back to Benedictine monks and has been owned by the von Schubert family since 1882. The three monopoly sites Abtsberg, Herrenberg, and Bruderberg produce exclusively Riesling, which clearly reflects the slate-dominated soils of the region.

In the glass, the Abtsberg shows aromas of apricot, white peach, and orange zest, underscored by floral tones such as orange blossom and almond blossom. Fresh herbal spice — lemon balm, a hint of mint — keeps the sweetness in balance. The acidity is present and clear, the finish long with a fine slate note.

Best served at 8–10 °C. Classic with blue cheese or Roquefort, with Asian dishes featuring coconut milk and chili, or with duck in orange sauce. Also convincing as a standalone wine for the evening.

Maximin Grünhaus

VDP Member Estate

Maximin Grünhaus is one of the great names in the German wine world – and has been for centuries. The winery in the Ruwer Valley, a quiet side valley of the Moselle, was once owned by the Benedictine monastery of St. Maximin. Today, the von Schubert family cultivates this heritage with dedication and precision.

The three vineyard sites of Abtsberg, Bruderberg, and Herrenberg produce Rieslings that speak for themselves: delicate, mineral, with that unmistakable coolness and elegance that makes the Ruwer region so special. Whether a fresh and fruity Kabinett or a deep Spätlese – here you can taste history in every glass.
