Since its founding in Reims in 1776, the Louis Roederer estate has remained in the same family. Today, it is one of the most important independent family-owned wineries in Champagne. Frederic Rouzard, a direct descendant of Louis Roederer, is the current Director General. His goal is to create the Champagne of tomorrow, ensuring that Louis Roederer will still be a benchmark in 20 years' time. The vineyards cover a total area of 240 hectares, exclusively in Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites along the Marne River. Since 2001, the majority of the estate has been undergoing a gradual conversion to biodynamic farming, which is scheduled for completion in 2020.

Champagne Louis Roederer is one of the few major Champagne houses that have remained continuously family-owned since its founding in 1776. Today, Frédéric Rouzaud, a direct descendant of Louis Roederer, manages the house as Director General – with the stated goal of not resting on its laurels, but defining the Champagne of the next generation.

The foundation for this is 240 hectares of their own vineyards, exclusively in Grands Cru and Premier Cru sites along the Marne near Reims. This exceptional control over the terroir – from vine to glass – is not a given in Champagne. Since 2001, the house has been gradually converting the majority of its land to biodynamic farming, a process that has been pursued consistently and without compromise.

The same meticulous care is evident in the cellar: reserve wines, precise blending, and extended lees aging. The result is champagnes with a clear sense of origin, exhibiting both freshness and depth – from the approachable Brut Premier to the prestigious Cristal cuvée.
