Ziereisen Chardonnay dry "Hard"

A Chardonnay that shows what the Kaiserstuhl can do: dense, complex, and with a mineral vein that remains long on the finish.

Weingut Ziereisen works in the southern Markgräflerland – on the border with Switzerland, in the extreme southwest of Baden. Hanspeter Ziereisen is one of the most consistent winemakers in the region: low yields, minimal intervention in the cellar, long maturation periods. The "Hard" is a single-vineyard wine whose name refers to a specific plot – not a fantasy term.

On the nose, the wine initially appears closed and reductive. With air, it opens up to quince, mirabelle, and apple peel, underscored by floral aromas and a hint of cold smoke. In the mouth, it feels broad and concentrated – pome fruit-driven fruit, extract sweetness without heaviness, velvety texture. The finish is long and characterized by salty minerality.
