Talrain Pinot Noir

Talrain Pinot Noir
A Pinot Noir from southern Baden that shows what the region can do: clear fruit, lively acidity, and a terroir that you can taste in the glass.
The Ziereisen winery in Efringen-Kirchen, right at the foot of the Tafeljura, is one of the defining addresses for Pinot Noir in Germany. Hans-Peter Ziereisen works with minimal intervention in the cellar — consistent hand-picking, spontaneous fermentation, aging in wooden barrels. The Talrain is a single-vineyard wine from the volcanic soil of the vineyard of the same name, where basaltic weathering soils provide spice and depth.
In the glass, the 2022 shows aromas of ripe cherry and blackberry, underlaid by a hint of violet and fine cedar wood. The tannins are fine-grained and well-integrated, the acidity clear and structure-giving without edge. The finish is medium-long, spicy, with a light mineral note.
- Temperature: 16–17 °C
- Food pairing: Wild duck confit, roasted veal loin with mushrooms, ripe Comté
