Pinot Noir dry "Schools"

A Pinot Noir that combines power and calm in one glass – dense, precise, and with a finish that lingers long.

Weingut Ziereisen is located in Efringen-Kirchen in the Markgräflerland, right on the border with Alsace and Switzerland. Hanspeter Ziereisen is considered one of the most consistent winemakers in Baden: minimal intervention in the cellar, focus on single-vineyard wines that let the limestone-shell limestone soil of the region speak. The “Schulen" is one of his single-vineyard cuvées – named after the plot known for its depth.

On the nose, the wine shows dark forest floor, pine cones, and cool wood spice, underneath dried plums and ripe wild cherries, a hint of cold smoke and dark chocolate. On the palate, dense body with a real backbone – mocha, dry spice, wild cherry again – but never heavy. The tannins are velvety and firm at the same time, the acidity enlivens without being pushy. The finish is long, almost smoky, with a fine dark chocolate note at the end.
