Ziereisen Grauer Burgunder

A Pinot Gris that shows what is possible when you give the must time: a light amber color in the glass, a melting texture, yet surprisingly cool and precise.

The Ziereisen winery is located in Efringen-Kirchen in the Markgräflerland region—in the far south of Baden, just a few kilometers from the Rhine and the Swiss border. Hanspeter Ziereisen is considered one of the region's most meticulous winemakers: minimal intervention in the cellar, great patience in the vineyard. The Pinot Gris spends time on the skins after harvesting, hence the slightly orange reflections in the glass and the distinctive mouthfeel.

On the nose, ripe yellow plum, dried herbs, and a hint of flint. On the palate, it is full-bodied and dense without feeling heavy—the ripe acidity holds everything together and ensures a long, mineral-salty finish. No artificial oak influence, no lingering sweetness.

Serving temperature: 12–14 °C. Drinking window until 2029+. Pairs well with:

  • Pike-perch fillet with beurre blanc
  • Veal schnitzel with sage
  • aged Comté or Gruyère
  • white asparagus with hollandaise sauce
