Pinot Blanc

Pinot Blanc
Pinot Blanc from Rheinhessen – that often sounds like pleasant everyday wine. With Wagner-Stempel, it is the opposite: a Pinot Blanc with backbone, tension, and real character.
The Wagner-Stempel winery is located in Siefersheim, a small village in western Rheinhessen on volcanic porphyry soil – one of the most geologically interesting sites in the region. Daniel Wagner cultivates the steep slopes biodynamically and relies on long lees aging as well as gentle fermentation. The result is wines that transport the raw minerality of this soil directly into the glass.
In the glass, the Pinot Blanc shows clear straw yellow. On the nose, pastry, a hint of vanilla, and ripe pear. On the palate, then, the actual performance: firm body with fine extract sweetness, an invigorating acidity, light peppery spice, and an ascending minerality that keeps the finish long and piquant. Not a soft flatterer – a wine with attitude.
Drinking recommendation: Good at 10–12 °C. Pairs with zander fillet with beurre blanc, vitello tonnato, or mature mountain cheese.
