Siefersheim Höllberg Riesling GG

Siefersheim Höllberg Riesling GG
The Höllberg is one of the most striking single vineyards in Rheinhessen – and Wagner-Stempel shows here what Siefersheim really can do: a Riesling with a real mountain mood, far away from the soft Rheinhessen cliché.
Daniel Wagner's winery is located in northern Rheinhessen, near the Nahe border. The soils around Siefersheim are among the most mineral in the region: quartzite, red slate, and porphyry shape the vines, some of which grow on extreme slopes. The Höllberg is one of them – a Grosses Gewächs that deserves the classification.
In the glass, a Riesling with a clear structure appears: aromas of ripe apple, fresh herbs, and some foliage, underlaid by a fine minerality that unfolds further on the palate. The body is firm, yet juicy – with distinct melt and an extract sweetness that gives the wine depth without making it heavy. The finish brings herbal spice and a hint of biscuit, the astringency remains pleasantly integrated.
- Food pairing: Fried zander with beurre blanc, asparagus dishes, poultry rillettes, or medium-ripe mountain cheese
- Temperature: 10–12 °C
