Siefersheimer Riesling “Porphyr” QbA dry

Rheinhessen Riesling with real character: The “Porphyr” from Wagner-Stempel comes from one of the most renowned wineries in the region and shows what Siefersheim can do – when the soil is right.

The Daniel and Kai Wagner-Stempel winery in Siefersheim is located in northern Rheinhessen, far from the main tourist routes. The wine takes its name from porphyry – a volcanic bedrock that shapes the soils here and gives the Riesling its distinctive mineral character. For years, Wagner-Stempel has been among the top producers of Rheinhessen Rieslings, cultivating their vineyards with a consistent focus on soil management and low yields.

In the glass, the Porphyr QbA displays fresh citrus aromas – lime and lemon zest – combined with white peach and a distinct mineral note reminiscent of wet stone. The acidity is lively but well-integrated, the finish dry and saline. A wine that, despite its approachability, possesses considerable substance.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Drinking window: now until 2027. Pairs well with fresh goat cheese , grilled asparagus with herb vinaigrette, or light fish dishes such as trout or sea bass.
