Disibodenberg Wine House Melody Pinot Gris by Harold Faltermeyer Magnum

Disibodenberg Wine House Melody Pinot Gris by Harold Faltermeyer Magnum
Six Pinot Blanc components, aged in steel and oak barrels – that is the idea behind the Melody: a white wine from the Weinhaus Disibodenberg that stands out due to its complexity.
The Weinhaus Disibodenberg is located in Rhineland-Palatinate, near the historic Disibodenberg monastery on the Nahe. The steep slope parcel Kapellenberg with old vines provides the base material for this cuvée – old vines produce fewer, but more concentrated grapes.
In the glass, it shows a strong golden yellow. On the nose, mirabelle, ripe pear, and white peach, complemented by a slightly creamy component from the oak barrel portion. The palate shows a smooth acid structure without edges – the steel-aged portions provide freshness, the wood provides texture and length. The finish is persistently fruity with a hint of almond.
The magnum bottle slows down the development in the glass – ideal if the wine is to accompany the table for several hours.

Above the vineyard, the ruins of Disibodenberg Monastery rise into the sky – the place where Hildegard von Bingen once lived and worked. History is not merely an add-on here; it is the landscape itself. The Disibodenberg winery cultivates its vineyards in the Nahe region with a seriousness that is palpable in every glass. Clay slate, volcanic subsoil, sandstone, melaphyre – each of the four individual vineyard sites has its own character, its own voice. The steep Montfort vineyard retains warmth and imparts depth. The amphitheater-like Kapellenberg vineyard towers high above the fog line. The large, steep Kloster Disibodenberg vineyard carries centuries of history within it. The result is wines with character: a Riesling that is both vibrant and profound, a Pinot Noir with genuine substance. No showmanship – just honest work in exceptionally old soils. If that piques your interest, you've come to the right place.
