Disibodenberg Wine House Raphael Gold Sauvignon Blanc by Harold Faltermeyer
Disibodenberg Wine House Raphael Gold Sauvignon Blanc by Harold Faltermeyer
A Sauvignon Blanc that shows what the Nahe region is capable of: clear fruit, lively acidity, and a finish with drive.
Weinhaus Disibodenberg is located in the Nahe valley, one of the more compact German quality regions between the Hunsrück and Soonwald. The estate focuses on aromatic white wines where the varietal character takes center stage.
In the glass, the wine glows light yellow with green reflections. The nose reveals gooseberry, Granny Smith apple, and grapefruit – the typical aroma profile of a cooler-climate Sauvignon Blanc. Added to this is a hint of passion fruit, which gives the wine a zesty touch. On the palate, it has a medium body, fresh acidity, and a dry finish without any harshness.
- Food: Grilled sea bass, shrimp with lemon butter, Vitello Tonnato, light pasta with herb sauce
- Temperature: 8–10 °C

Above the vineyard, the ruins of Disibodenberg Monastery rise into the sky – the place where Hildegard von Bingen once lived and worked. History is not merely an add-on here; it is the landscape itself. The Disibodenberg winery cultivates its vineyards in the Nahe region with a seriousness that is palpable in every glass. Clay slate, volcanic subsoil, sandstone, melaphyre – each of the four individual vineyard sites has its own character, its own voice. The steep Montfort vineyard retains warmth and imparts depth. The amphitheater-like Kapellenberg vineyard towers high above the fog line. The large, steep Kloster Disibodenberg vineyard carries centuries of history within it. The result is wines with character: a Riesling that is both vibrant and profound, a Pinot Noir with genuine substance. No showmanship – just honest work in exceptionally old soils. If that piques your interest, you've come to the right place.
