Disibodenberg Wine House Raphael Gold Sauvignon Blanc by Harold Faltermeyer Magnum

A Sauvignon Blanc in a magnum bottle means more than just double the quantity: larger formats mature more slowly and evenly, which benefits the wine.

The Disibodenberg winery is located in the Nahe region, named after the medieval Disibodenberg Monastery, which has shaped the winemaking tradition of this area for centuries. With their Raphael Gold , they demonstrate what the Nahe region has to offer Sauvignon Blanc: loamy-sandy soils with cooler locations that give the wine freshness and structure.

A bright golden yellow in the glass. On the nose, Granny Smith apple, grapefruit, and passion fruit – the typical varietal profile, kept vibrant by an early harvest date. On the palate, a fresh acidity is evident with a medium-length, slightly citrusy finish.

  • Food: Seafood (prawns, mussels, grilled fish), veal schnitzel with lemon butter, pasta with pesto or fresh goat cheese
  • Temperature: 10–12 °C
  • Occasion: The Magnum is particularly suitable for larger groups – barbecues, summer meals outdoors
  • Drinking window: Drink now, young and fresh

Disibodenberg Wine House

Above the vineyard, the ruins of Disibodenberg Monastery rise into the sky – the place where Hildegard von Bingen once lived and worked. History is not merely an add-on here; it is the landscape itself. The Disibodenberg winery cultivates its vineyards in the Nahe region with a seriousness that is palpable in every glass. Clay slate, volcanic subsoil, sandstone, melaphyre – each of the four individual vineyard sites has its own character, its own voice. The steep Montfort vineyard retains warmth and imparts depth. The amphitheater-like Kapellenberg vineyard towers high above the fog line. The large, steep Kloster Disibodenberg vineyard carries centuries of history within it. The result is wines with character: a Riesling that is both vibrant and profound, a Pinot Noir with genuine substance. No showmanship – just honest work in exceptionally old soils. If that piques your interest, you've come to the right place.
