Disibodenberg Wine House Melody Pinot Gris by Harold Faltermeyer

Disibodenberg Wine House Melody Pinot Gris by Harold Faltermeyer
Six Pinot Gris grapes from old, steep vineyards on the Kapellenberg – that's the basis for Harold Faltermeyer's Melody Pinot Gris . The result is a white wine with real weight: not lean, not fleeting, but dense and well-structured.
The Disibodenberg winery lies in the heart of the Nahe region, known for its mineral-driven white wines. The old vines on the Kapellenberg vineyard yield concentrated grapes, which Harold Faltermeyer ferments in both stainless steel tanks and oak barrels. This combination sharpens the fruit on the one hand and rounds out the texture on the other.
In the glass, the wine shines a warm golden yellow. The nose offers aromas of mirabelle plum, ripe pear, and a hint of white peach. On the palate, a smooth acidity carries the fruit without being harsh—the finish is long and slightly spicy.

Above the vineyard, the ruins of Disibodenberg Monastery rise into the sky – the place where Hildegard von Bingen once lived and worked. History is not merely an add-on here; it is the landscape itself. The Disibodenberg winery cultivates its vineyards in the Nahe region with a seriousness that is palpable in every glass. Clay slate, volcanic subsoil, sandstone, melaphyre – each of the four individual vineyard sites has its own character, its own voice. The steep Montfort vineyard retains warmth and imparts depth. The amphitheater-like Kapellenberg vineyard towers high above the fog line. The large, steep Kloster Disibodenberg vineyard carries centuries of history within it. The result is wines with character: a Riesling that is both vibrant and profound, a Pinot Noir with genuine substance. No showmanship – just honest work in exceptionally old soils. If that piques your interest, you've come to the right place.
