Wehlener Klosterberg Pinot Blanc

The Wehlener Klosterberg Pinot Blanc from Markus Molitor shows what the Mosel can do beyond Riesling: a Pinot Blanc interpretation with clear vineyard aromatics and precise vinification.

Markus Molitor is one of the most renowned producers in the Middle Mosel. His winery in Wehlen cultivates steep slopes on blue and grey slate, which give the Wehlener Klosterberg its mineral character. Molitor works with high craftsmanship across all grape varieties — hand-picking, selective sorting, and controlled fermentation are standard in the cellar.

In the glass, it reveals a fresh, structured Pinot Blanc with aromas of yellow apple, white peach, and a hint of almond. The acidity is integrated but lively; the finish is mineral and dry with a slight creaminess in the mouthfeel.

Well-chilled to 10–12 °C, it unfolds its full potential. At the table, it pairs well with pan-fried zander with caper butter, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or a young goat cheese. It also makes a fine aperitif.
