Haus Klosterberg Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir from the Mosel — that might sound unusual at first, but at Markus Molitor, it has long since ceased to be an experiment. The winery in Wehlen is one of the most famous addresses on the Middle Mosel, where, in addition to his celebrated Rieslings, Molitor also cultivates red Burgundy varieties with great care.

The Haus Klosterberg Pinot Noir shows what the Mosel can give to red Burgundy: a cool, precise fruit with aromas of sour cherry and red plum, underpinned by floral notes and a hint of earth. The body is lean, the tannins are fine and well-integrated, and the acidity enlivens the finish without being sharp — typical for Pinot Noir from northern sites.

On the table, it pairs well with dishes that do not require heaviness: roasted duck, veal medallions, mushroom risotto, or an aged goat cheese. Serving temperature: 15–17 °C — served too warm, it loses the finesse that defines it.
