Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese Off-Dry

The Graacher Himmelreich stands for what the Mosel can do in its purest form: Riesling with depth, tension, and that unmistakable minerality that the slate has been inscribing into the soil here for millions of years. Markus Molitor has vinified a Spätlese Riesling from this vineyard in an Off-Dry style — which means: noticeable residual sweetness, but kept in check by a lively acidity, so the wine never feels heavy or sticky.

The Markus Molitor winery in Wehlen is one of the most renowned addresses in the Middle Mosel. Molitor cultivates steep slopes with some very old vines, works consistently in the cellar, and has built a reputation for precise, age-worthy Rieslings that clearly bring out the character of each individual vineyard. The Graacher Himmelreich — one of the great vineyards between Bernkastel and Wehlen — provides ideal conditions for this.

In the glass, the wine shows aromas of white peach, apricot, and fresh citrus zest, underscored by a fine slate minerality. On the palate, it feels juicy; the sweetness carries it, while the acidity pulls the finish long and fresh. Serving temperature: 8–10 °C. Pairs well with Asian cuisine with light spice, goat cheese, or grilled salmon with mustard-dill sauce.
