Old Vines Mosel Riesling

Markus Molitor's "Alte Reben" shows what the Mosel has to offer in its most uncomplicated form: a dry Riesling with substance that bears the signature of one of the region's most renowned wineries.

Since the 1980s, Markus Molitor has been cultivating steep slopes along the middle and lower Mosel, including prime sites around Wehlen, Zeltingen, and Bernkastel. The old vines, to which this wine owes its name, naturally produce lower yields — but in return, more concentrated grapes with deeper roots in the slate. This soil leaves a noticeable mark on the wine.

In the glass, it displays typical Mosel Riesling aromas: citrus zest, green apple, and a mineral hint of wet slate. The acidity is lively yet integrated, the body lean and precise. The finish is dry, with a slightly salty aftertaste.

Pairs well with trout, zander, or char — classic Mosel style. It also pairs beautifully with Asian dishes featuring lemongrass or with goat cheese. Best served at 10–12 °C.

At Vinoscout, you will find a fine selection of four white wines that show what the Mosel has to offer in terms of Riesling – from fresh lightness to mature depth. Each bottle tells its own story: some impress with zesty acidity and a lean structure, others with dense aromatics and an almost creamy texture, which is typical for the best sites along the river.

The bottles are priced between 17.30 and 25.60 EUR, making the range interesting for both uncomplicated enjoyment and special occasions. Whether as a spontaneous companion for the evening or as a highlight on a festive table – at Markus Molitor, you will find Rieslings that bring the Mosel to life in every glass.
