Einstern Pinot Noir Quality Wine

Pinot Noir from the Mosel — that sounds unusual, but at Markus Molitor, it is a consistent part of the program. The Einstern shows what the slate-dominated slopes of the Middle Mosel can also achieve for red grape varieties: freshness, finesse, and a clear mineral line.

Markus Molitor is one of the most well-known winemakers in the Mosel. His winery in Wehlen cultivates steep slopes that are primarily famous for Riesling — but Pinot Noir also has its firm place here. The Einstern is the entry into the estate's Pinot range: accessible, clearly varietal, without compromising on origin.

In the glass, it shows aromas of red cherry and raspberry, along with a subtle spice and the lightness characteristic of Mosel red wines. The tannins are soft, the acidity is lively without being sharp, and the finish remains pleasantly long and fresh.

Drink it slightly chilled at 14–16 °C — this enhances the fruit and elegance. On the table, it pairs well with salmon trout, goat cheese, mushroom risotto, or grilled vegetables. It is also a safe choice as an uncomplicated companion for an evening without much cooking effort.

Weingut Markus Molitor

Winery of the month October 2026

October takes us to the Mosel. Hardly any other winery translates steep slate slopes into the glass as precisely as Markus Molitor: minerality, freshness, and depth that do not get in each other's way. From zesty lightness to ripe, almost creamy density — Riesling in its full spectrum, for when the leaves fall outside.

Weingut Markus Molitor stands for Mosel Riesling from steep slate slopes: mineral, fresh, and with depth. The wines come from well-known single vineyards between Brauneberg, Bernkastel, Wehlen, Zeltingen, Erden, and Ürzig, in addition to vineyards on the Saar.

At Vinoscout, you will find the entire range of the winery. The entry point is the Haus Klosterberg line: Riesling dry, off-dry, and fruity-sweet, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, a Rosé, and a Cuvée Brut. Above that are Kabinett and Spätlese wines from the great vineyards of the Mosel and the Saar, such as Erdener Treppchen, Ürziger Würzgarten, Graacher Himmelreich, or Saarburger Rausch. In addition, there are Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc from vineyards like the Brauneberger Klostergarten and the Wehlener Klosterberg.

For the Rieslings, the color of the capsule helps you: white stands for dry, green for off-dry, gold for fruity-sweet. This way, you can quickly find the right wine, whether for the evening or for a festive table.
