Ürziger Würzgarten Spätlese - golden capsule
A dense late harvest Riesling from one of the Mosel's most distinctive steep slopes. In Markus Molitor's color system, the gold capsule traditionally signifies naturally sweet Prädikat wines and heralds a Riesling with enormous aging potential.
Grown in the Ürziger Würzgarten vineyard, the old vines here are deeply rooted in the red volcanic rock and slate. The winery on the Wehlener Klosterberg cultivates these extreme slopes with uncompromising manual labor. After a late harvest and rigorous selection of the grapes, the must ferments spontaneously in large wooden barrels without the addition of any additives. This traditional vinification gives the wine the necessary time to develop its complex terroir character.
In the glass, a clear profile unfolds, revealing delicate slate spice and aromas of ripe peach. On the palate, this late harvest wine reveals a lush fruitiness. The residual sweetness is not heavy, but rather balanced by a delicate minerality and a playful acidity before leading into a long finish.
Serve this Riesling at 8 to 10 °C . It pairs perfectly with mature blue cheese, fruity desserts with apricot, or Asian curries with a subtle ginger spice.
