Von Buhl Rosé Sparkling Wine Brut

Von Buhl Rosé Sparkling Wine Brut
Von Buhl Rosé Sekt Brut — a sparkling wine that shows what the Reichsrat von Buhl estate in the Palatinate has stood for for generations: meticulous craftsmanship that can be tasted in the glass.
The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified into a base wine—partly in wooden barrels, partly in stainless steel tanks. What follows is classic bottle fermentation using the traditional method , during which the sparkling wine matures on its lees for a full 20 months. This period is not merely a formality: it gives the rosé its creamy texture, its fine, persistent bubbles, and a depth that many sparkling wines in this price range lack.
In the glass, it displays a lively bubble structure and fresh, clear acidity. The nose is inviting and complex:
- Beetroot — earthy and velvety
- Rosehip — fruity and slightly tart
- Brioche — warm, yeasty, with a hint of patisserie
The result is a sparkling wine that works equally well as an aperitif and delights at the table—for example, with salmon, scallops, light pasta dishes, or a good goat cheese. Anyone who appreciates rosé Champagne will understand this sparkling wine.

In 1849, Franz Peter Buhl founded the winery in Deidesheim – emerging from the division of the Jordan estate, which also gave rise to Bassermann-Jordan and von Winning. Today, all three belong to the Niederberger Group. On approximately 56 hectares, nearly 90 percent is planted with Riesling. The top sites are located in Forst – Kirchenstück, Ungeheuer, and Pechstein – in addition to parcels in Wachenheim, Ruppertsberg, and Königsbach. The VDP estate has been organically certified since 2009 and operates biodynamically. Since 2013, the style has been shaped by Mathieu Kauffmann, formerly cellar master at Champagne Bollinger. His signature is particularly evident in the sparkling wines, which are produced using traditional bottle fermentation.
