Reichsrat von Buhl Jesuitengarten Riesling Grosses Gewächs

An outstanding Riesling Grosses Gewächs from the legendary Jesuitengarten vineyard in the Palatinate, boasting vibrant citrus aromas and elegant minerality. The Reichsrat von Buhl Jesuitengarten Riesling represents German Riesling culture in its purest form. As a Grosses Gewächs from one of the most prestigious sites in the Mittelhaardt region, this wine embodies everything that makes top German wines so internationally acclaimed. The Reichsrat von Buhl winery looks back on over 150 years of winemaking tradition and has established itself as one of Germany's leading Riesling producers. The Jesuitengarten vineyard, from which this exceptional Riesling originates, is considered one of the best single vineyards in the Palatinate. Here, the special soil conditions and unique microclimate create ideal conditions for Rieslings of exceptional quality. The bouquet reveals a fascinating complexity of vibrant citrus fruits, ripe apricots, and a fine minerality that testifies to the terroir characteristics of the site. On the palate, a flavor experience unfolds that lingers long after the last sip. The perfect balance between fruitiness and acidity, paired with the characteristic minerality, makes this Riesling a true delight. It is an excellent match for sophisticated cuisine, but also a meditative soloist for special moments. A wine for connoisseurs and all those who want to understand what true German Riesling tradition means. 92-93 points Robert Parker for the 2015 vintage

Reichsrat von Buhl

VDP Member Estate

In 1849, Franz Peter Buhl founded the winery in Deidesheim – emerging from the division of the Jordan estate, which also gave rise to Bassermann-Jordan and von Winning. Today, all three belong to the Niederberger Group. On approximately 56 hectares, nearly 90 percent is planted with Riesling. The top sites are located in Forst – Kirchenstück, Ungeheuer, and Pechstein – in addition to parcels in Wachenheim, Ruppertsberg, and Königsbach. The VDP estate has been organically certified since 2009 and operates biodynamically. Since 2013, the style has been shaped by Mathieu Kauffmann, formerly cellar master at Champagne Bollinger. His signature is particularly evident in the sparkling wines, which are produced using traditional bottle fermentation.
