ULISSE Primitivo Terre di Chieti IGP Ltd. edition

This limited edition brings the Primitivo grape to Abruzzo. In the glass, it reveals a complex bouquet of ripe plum and dark cherry, underpinned by distinct tobacco notes. On the palate, a full body meets a lusciously sweet flavor profile, balanced by soft tannins and vibrant acidity. A subtle minerality accompanies the long finish.

Brothers Antonio and Luigi Ulisse continue the legacy of their grandfather, who planted the first vines at the beginning of the 20th century. On 55 hectares around Crecchio, Lanciano, and Ortona, they utilize the region's diverse terroir. The grapes are selectively hand-harvested into 10-kilo crates. The use of dry ice on transport to the winery ensures the grapes remain undamaged and retain their intense aromas. The striking labels by artist Gino Masciarelli reflect this modern approach of the family.

With its pronounced residual sweetness and dense body, this wine demands robust counterparts. It pairs superbly with aged blue cheese, dark chocolate with a high cocoa content, or a hearty wild boar ragout. Serve it at a drinking temperature of 16 to 18 °C to ensure the rich fruit aromas remain precise and structured.
