AMARANTA Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOP 20th Edition

The AMARANTA Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOP 20th Edition shows what the grape variety can do: it is dense and soft and has a lot of depth. In the glass, ripe plum, vanilla, and licorice lie on top of each other.

Behind the wine is Tenuta Ulisse in Abruzzo. Brothers Antonio and Luigi Ulisse continue a legacy that their grandfather founded at the beginning of the 20th century when he planted the first vines here. Today, the winery manages 55 hectares around Crecchio and Lanciano in the interior as well as Ortona on the coast. This way, every grape variety finds its suitable location. The grapes are selectively hand-picked in 10 kg containers, brought to the winery cooled with dry ice, and sorted again. The AMARANTA belongs to the Linea Selezione, which focuses on traditional, autochthonous grape varieties of Abruzzo.

On the palate, the wine is intense, full-bodied, and soft; the finish is long. It is semi-dry, the fruit sweetness rounds off the spicy notes. Serve at 16–18 °C. It pairs with pasta with ragù, grilled lamb, braised dishes, or aged Pecorino.

Tenuta Ulisse

Founded in 2006, Tenuta Ulisse is today a symbol of the renaissance of viticulture in the Abruzzo region! Within Tenuta Ulisse, special attention is paid to family, tradition, history, and the land.

Typical Abruzzo grape varieties such as Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, Trebbiano D’Abruzzo, Pecorino, Passerina, and Cococciola are grown on 55 hectares of land. Brothers Antonio and Luigi Ulisse feel particularly motivated to express the uniqueness of wines from the Abruzzo region.
