Terre di San Leonardo IGT Trentino

The Terre di San Leonardo is the entry into the Markgräfliche: a Trentino red wine in the Bordeaux style that combines structure and accessibility – barrique aging included.

The San Leonardo winery is located in the southern Trentino, near the border with South Tyrol, in the Sarca Valley. The Marchesi Guerrieri Gonzaga have managed the estate for generations; their flagship San Leonardo is considered one of Italy's most renowned red wines. The Terre di San Leonardo is the more accessible brother – with the same Bordeaux grape varieties, but drinkable earlier.

In the glass, it shows dark cherry, blackberry, and a hint of cedar wood from the barrique aging. The palate is full-bodied, the tannins present but well-integrated. The finish leaves a pleasantly bitter aftertaste with aromatic length – typical of the house style.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Pairs with leg of lamb with rosemary, grilled beef steak, or pasta with wild boar ragù.
