San Leonardo Tenuta San Leonardo IGT Trentino

Tenuta San Leonardo is the flagship wine of the eponymous winery in Trentino — a red wine that combines Bordeaux elegance with alpine precision and is only released after four years of total maturation.

The estate in the Sarca Valley, near the border with South Tyrol, boasts a centuries-long winemaking tradition. Since the 1980s, Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga has consistently focused on Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, and Merlot—grape varieties that develop a structured, age-worthy style on the valley's gravelly alluvial soils. The wines mature for 24 months in barriques and tonneaux, followed by a further two years of bottle aging before release.

In the glass, the San Leonardo displays aromas of wild berries and blackberries, along with undergrowth, tobacco, and a subtle herbal spice. On the palate, it is lively and precise: medium to full-bodied, with fine, well-integrated tannins and a harmonious acidity. The finish is long and lingering—not loud, but profound.

Serving suggestion: Decant now (at least 60 minutes) or store until 2032. Serving temperature 17–18 °C. Pairs well with braised leg of lamb, wild boar ragù with polenta, or mature pecorino cheese.
