San Leonardo Rosso Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 3.0L

The San Leonardo Rosso is a dry red wine in the Bordeaux style: Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Merlot, brought together in a blend. This 3-liter double magnum belongs on the table where several guests come together.

The San Leonardo winery is located in Trentino, in the south of the Trentino-Alto Adige region, and bottles the wine as Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT. The winery has long been considered a benchmark for Bordeaux grape varieties in Northern Italy. The combination with Carmenère gives the wine a spicy, slightly green note that sets it apart from a pure Cabernet-Merlot blend.

In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red that turns to garnet over time. On the nose, ripe red berries, black cherries, spices, tobacco and balsamic notes. Powerful but precise on the palate, with silky tannins, clear structure and a long finish reminiscent of dark fruits and spices.

Recommendation: Braised beef, rack of lamb with rosemary or aged hard cheese. Serve it at 16 to 18 °C and decant it beforehand so that the bouquet opens up.

The Winery

San Leonardo

San Leonardo stands for wines from Trentino, one of Italy's most exciting red wine regions. At Vinoscout, you will find the range in a price range of around 17 to 94 euros – from accessible entry-level wines to ambitious cuvées.

The focus is on powerful red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and Lagrein, as well as a fresh Sauvignon Blanc that makes the estate's alpine origin palpable.
