Carmenère San Leonardo Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT 1.5L

Carmenère is a rarity: the grape variety originally comes from Bordeaux and is rarely vinified as a single-varietal wine in Italy. This wine from San Leonardo shows how dark, spicy, and at the same time smooth it can be. The 1.5-liter magnum makes it the perfect bottle for a set table.

San Leonardo is located in Trentino, in the south of the Dolomites region, and is considered one of the most renowned wineries in Northern Italy. The wine carries the designation of origin Vigneti delle Dolomiti IGT and is vinified dry.

In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red. On the nose, blackberry and plum dominate, accompanied by leather, spicy notes, and a hint of green bell pepper, which is typical for Carmenère. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, the tannins are fine, and the finish remains long.

Recommendation: Serve it at 16 to 18 °C, ideally with braised beef, lamb with rosemary, or strong hard cheese. The large bottle is suitable for invitations and evenings spent with others.

San Leonardo

San Leonardo stands for wines from Trentino, one of Italy's most exciting red wine regions. At Vinoscout, you will find the range in a price range of around 17 to 94 euros – from accessible entry-level wines to ambitious cuvées.

The focus is on powerful red wines made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, and Lagrein, as well as a fresh Sauvignon Blanc that makes the estate's alpine origin palpable.
