Santa Maria Vermentino di Sardegna I Papiri

The name "I Papiri" is a tribute to the ancient Egyptians and a reminder that they, too, cultivated a wine tradition. A scroll was discovered in the 1980s that documented this, which Cantina Santa Maria la Palma took as inspiration for the name and label. Only Vermentino grapes grown in the oldest vineyards are selected for I Papiri. These hand-harvested grapes develop their maximum character after a long ripening period. I Papiri is a straw-yellow white wine with a fruity, intense bouquet. Its aromas are reminiscent of banana, melon, and bitter almond. On the palate, it is intense, full-bodied, and smooth, with a long finish that leaves a slightly bitter aftertaste typical of Vermentino. Bronze - Decanter World Wine Award 2017

Cantina Santa Maria la Palma

Cantina Santa Maria la Palma – a story of farm workers who had nothing but land and an idea. After the agrarian reform of 1946, they received land between the Gulf of Alghero and the Bay of Ponte Conte. In 1959, 100 of them joined together to form a cooperative. Today, the winery combines modern technology with ancient traditions across 700 hectares. The Vermentino "Aragosta" has become a flagship of Sardinian white wines – good quality at attractive prices. Whether it's method, soil conservation, or technology: for them, quality always comes first.
