San Giorgio Umbria Rosso IGT 0.75L

The San Giorgio from Lungarotti is one of the classics of Umbria — a red wine that has carried the signature of the Lungarotti house since its first vintage in 1977 and has helped shape the Torgiano region. The cuvée of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese combines two strong characters: the structural power of Cabernet with the freshness and acidity of Sangiovese.

Lungarotti is the winery that put Torgiano on the map as a wine region — a family history closely linked to the development of Umbrian viticulture. The San Giorgio is not a side project, but a wine with its own aspirations: dry, full of character, with the mineral depth that distinguishes Umbria from Tuscany.

In the glass, it shows dark berry fruit — blackberry, black cherry — with a spicy note in the background coming from the Sangiovese portion. The body is medium-full to powerful, the tannins present but not coarse, the finish dry and persistent. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. At the table, it pairs well with wild boar salami, pasta al ragù, braised beef, or an aged Pecorino from the region.

Lungarotti

Lungarotti – your gateway to the soul of Umbria. In the 1960s, Giorgio Lungarotti revolutionized the Umbrian wine world, making Torgiano the region's first quality appellation. Today, his daughters Chiara and Teresa carry on the legacy with passion and vision. What makes Lungarotti so special? Wine and culture are inextricably linked here: a wine museum, a luxury hotel, and sustainable projects. On over 300 hectares, they produce wines that reflect the terroir of Umbria. The legendary Rubesco Vigna Monticchio – a single-varietal Sangiovese. With San Giorgio, they created the first "Superumbrian" in 1977. And they were the first winery in Umbria to receive the VIVA sustainability certification. Umbria, as it tastes.
