Ramon Bilbao Gran Reserva Rioja DOCa

The Gran Reserva Rioja from Ramon Bilbao shines with a clear, intense garnet red color with subtle brick-red undertones. From the first sip, balsamic notes of wood and chocolate unfold on the nose, along with a hint of coconut in the background, surrounded by the aroma of ripe red berries. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a slightly astringent and lively acidity. Here, too, notes of cocoa and toasted wood are present. The lingering finish, due to its complexity, is difficult to describe: tobacco and cedar, spices, licorice, and leather. The Gran Reserva from Ramon Bilbao continues its international acclaim in the wine industry in 2015. With four gold medals in the most prestigious competitions, it is another top result. Wine very good - Unfortunately very unhappy that one could order 18 even though only 8 were in stock. I think in the future I will trust other online retailers.

The Bodega

Ramón Bilbao is one of the defining names of Rioja – founded in 1924 in Haro, the historic heart of Rioja Alta, the winery today stands for a style that combines classic craftsmanship with modern cellar technology. Since 1999, Rodolfo Bastida has led the house as oenologist and managing director and has shaped it into one of the most well-known Spanish wine brands.

Mineral clay soils under the influence of an Atlantic climate give the Tempranillo vines the structure and freshness that give the wines their unmistakable profile.

With 240 hectares of its own vineyards in Rioja, Rueda, and Rías Baixas, Ramón Bilbao has long been thinking beyond the borders of Rioja – and in 2018, it became the first winery in Spain to be awarded the "Wineries for Climate Protection" certification.
