Pechstein G.C. Riesling dry QW Palatinate 1.5L

The Pechstein is one of the most famous single sites in the Pfalz — a basalt lava soil that gives the Riesling an unmistakable minerality that you can feel immediately in the glass. The Dr. Bürklin-Wolf winery has managed this site in Forst for generations, today biodynamically and Demeter-certified, with a consistent focus on site-specific expression.

In the glass, this Riesling shows a vibrant acidity structure that never feels harsh despite its large body. The minerality is a salty presence, not a background tone — flint and citrus zest in the foreground, behind it ripe yellow pear and a hint of white peach. The finish is long, spicy, with an almost saline freshness that demands the next sip.

There is more wine in the bottle than in a regular 0.75-liter bottling — the magnum size slows down maturation and gives the Pechstein additional depth. Serving temperature: 9–11 °C. At the table, it pairs with grilled langoustines or scallops with lemon butter, with sea bass from the oven, or with a mature mountain cheese with a strong rind.
