Mulderbosch Estate Blend
A South African red wine that captures the cool elegance of the Polkadraai hills in the glass. The Mulderbosch Estate Blend impressively demonstrates how precise and balanced a dry, Cabernet Franc-dominated red wine can be in the Cape.
The renowned Mulderbosch winery in Stellenbosch is known for wines with a clear sense of origin. The grapes for this blend come from the region's somewhat cooler slopes. This geographical characteristic ensures slow ripening and lends the wine a remarkable mineral depth that goes far beyond mere primary fruit.
The nose unfolds a classic bouquet of dark mulberry, ripe blackberry, and intense cassis. Underlying these are damp earthy notes and stony hints, lending the profile a subtle spiciness. On the palate, the wine presents a finely woven tannin structure and multifaceted dark fruit. The finish is calm and long, underpinned by a distinct minerality and noticeable aging potential.
An elegant companion to robust dishes. Serve it at 16 to 18 °C with a classic roast lamb, grilled rump steak, or braised root vegetables with rosemary and thyme. Thanks to its dense structure, it's worth decanting the wine slightly before drinking.
