Artist Chardonnay Limestone
A Chardonnay that shows what Rheingau limestone can do: soft acidity, precise aromas, long finish.
The Weingut Künstler in Hochheim am Main has been one of the most reliable addresses in the Rheingau for decades – with a focus on site-faithful wines that let their soil speak. The limestone vineyard is one of the estate's specialties: the increased lime content in the soil slows down acid development and gives the wine a natural fullness that manages without heaviness.
In the cellar, consistent manual work follows: aging in wooden barrels, then storage on the fine lees until bottling. The result is easy to read in the glass – aromas of white peach, mandarin, and a hint of toasted hazelnut, underneath a fine, creamy texture that comes from the lees aging. The finish is long, spicy, and accompanied by a light smoky tone.
- Temperature: 11–13 °C
- Pairs with: Veal schnitzel with jus, lobster, creamy pasta dishes with mushrooms, or aged Gruyère

Rheingau since 1648. Today in Hochheim, managed by Gunter Künstler and his team. 42 hectares of vineyards on light, loamy soils. The focus is on Riesling – in many variations. Also cultivated are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Noir. Among the best vineyard sites are the Hochheimer Hölle, the Kirchenstück, and the Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg. Around 300,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. Rheingau as it should be – precise, elegant, and full of character.
