Hammel & Cie Riesling Days like these dry

A Riesling with a little twist: Weingut Hammel & Cie mixes some Scheurebe into the classic Pfalz Riesling – this brings a piquant, slightly exotic fruit note into play, which makes the wine more lively.

Hammel & Cie is an established winery from the Palatinate region, known for approachable, everyday wines with a clear varietal character. The name "Days Like These" says it all: not a cellar treasure for special evenings, but a wine for Tuesdays.

In the glass, aromas of yellow apple, mirabelle plum, and a hint of herbal spice emerge – the Scheurebe grape makes itself known with a floral, slightly gooseberry note. On the palate, it is fresh, medium-light in body, with lively acidity and a short, clean finish.

Serving temperature 8–10 °C. Goes well with tarte flambée, vegetable quiche, grilled chicken with herbs, or simply enjoyed as a glass on the patio.

Reviews

Interesting

Juicy! Acidity and residual sweetness play with each other. Not a typical Riesling. Natural, but exciting!

Weingut Hammel & Cie

Since 1723, the Hammel & Cie winery in Kirchheim an der Weinstraße has been one of the reliable addresses in the Palatinate – today, Christoph Hammel is already running the business in the ninth generation. You can feel almost three centuries of family tradition in every bottle: this is not about short-term trends, but about consistency that has grown over generations.

On 42 hectares around the historic village center of Kirchheim, Riesling, Burgundy varieties, Sauvignon Blanc, and now also Grüner Veltliner grow – and in one of the mildest climate regions in Germany. This special warmth, combined with the diverse soils of the Palatinate, gives the grapes a ripeness that you can taste in the end in the glass. In the vineyard, the family sticks to proven traditions; in the cellar, they consciously rely on the targeted use of steel and wood to give each grape variety exactly the framework it needs.

The result is wines with a clear signature and aromatic fruit that deliver exactly what the family itself formulates as its leitmotif: to bring joy. Whether for an uncomplicated evening or a special occasion – at Hammel & Cie you will find wines that combine tradition and Palatinate joie de vivre in a completely natural way.
