Grüner Veltliner Federspiel Kollmitz

The Kollmitz Federspiel is the classic introduction to the Wachau – dry, lively, with the characteristic spiciness for which Grüner Veltliner from this region is known.

Domäne Wachau is one of Austria's most important winegrowers' cooperatives: Over 200 winegrowing families jointly cultivate around 440 hectares of steep slopes along the Danube, between Spitz and Krems. Terraced vineyards on gneiss and primary rock, a temperate Pannonian-Alpine climate – this has shaped the Domäne's style for decades. The Federspiel classification – named after the decoy bird used in Wachau falconry – signifies lighter, early-ripening wines with a maximum alcohol content of 12.5% ABV, which express their youthful and fresh character.

In the glass, the Kollmitz displays the typical Grüner Veltliner characteristics: white pepper, green apple, and a hint of citrus peel. The acidity is fresh and inviting, the body is light, and the finish is pleasantly spicy.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Best enjoyed now or by 2027. Pairs well with Wiener Schnitzel, asparagus dishes, grilled fish, or goat cheese.
