Domäne Wachau is not a winery in the traditional sense – it is a cooperative of around 200 winegrowers who collectively cultivate 400 hectares of terraced vineyards along the Danube. Each plot lies on primary rock, and many sites are only accessible via dry stone walls and steep, manual labor. The result is wines that directly reflect this effort: precise, mineral, and age-worthy.

Under the direction of Roman Horvath MW and Heinz Frischengruber, the estate focuses exclusively on Grüner Veltliner and Riesling – in the quality levels Steinfeder, Federspiel, and Smaragd. No oak aging, no stylization: the wines are meant to reflect the Wachau region, not the cellar. 160 of the 400 hectares are already organically farmed; the goal is 100%.
