Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Axpoint

Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Axpoint
The Axpoint is an emerald with depth: juicy, mineral, with an acid structure that will carry the wine for years — but already brings joy now.
Domäne Wachau is one of Austria's most important wineries. As a cooperative with over 200 member wineries, it cultivates the best vineyards in the Wachau region—including the Axpoint vineyard near Spitz on the Danube. This vineyard lies in a sheltered basin with a southwest-south exposure, partly on level ground, and partly on steep slopes with gradients of up to 50%. Smaragd designates the highest ripeness category in the Wachau—named after the emerald lizard, which is native to the vineyards.
In the glass, a bright straw yellow with green reflections. The nose reveals exotic fruit, herbs, and a hint of honey. On the palate, citrus, grapefruit, lively acidity, and a dense, powerful body—all well integrated, with a mineral, lingering finish.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C . Drinking window: now until 2030. Pairs well with Danube pike-perch, Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad or a mature mountain cheese.
