Riesling Federspiel Terrassen Domäne Wachau

Riesling Federspiel Terrassen Domäne Wachau
A Riesling that brings the character of the Wachau directly into the glass: fresh, precise and with the typical racy that terraced vineyards on primary rock produce.
Domäne Wachau is one of Austria's most important winegrowers' cooperatives – around 200 winegrowing families jointly cultivate the steep terraced vineyards along the Danube between Spitz, Dürnstein, and Weißenkirchen. Federspiel is the lightest of the three Wachau quality levels, named after the decoy bird used in falconry – a reference to its drinkability and freshness rather than heaviness.
The grapes are selectively hand-harvested and fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks, which clearly preserves the fruit aromas. In the glass, notes of peach and citrus peel emerge, along with a hint of white blossom and the mineral spiciness typical of Wachau Riesling on the finish. The acidity is lively, the body lean – a wine that whets the appetite.
