Domäne Wachau is one of Austria's most renowned winegrowers' cooperatives, founded in 1938, with vineyards along the Danube between Melk and Krems. The Terrassen label signifies wines from the typical loess terraces of the Wachau – lighter, more accessible soils than the primary rock vineyards of the Smaragd vineyards, but with a distinct regional character. Federspiel, according to the Wachau classification system, denotes a light to medium-bodied style with a maximum alcohol content of 12.5% ​​ABV – named after the falconry decoy bird.

In the glass, the typical Grüner Veltliner character is evident: white pepper and fresh herbal spice take center stage, followed by yellow apple and a hint of citrus peel. On the palate, it is juicy, with lively acidity and a lean body—not heavy, but precise and true to the variety. The finish is spicy and subtly bitter.
