Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Axpoint

The Axpoint is a Smaragd with depth: juicy, mineral, with an acid structure that carries the wine for years — but is already a pleasure now.

The Domäne Wachau is one of Austria's most significant wineries. As a cooperative with over 200 member farms, it cultivates the best sites in the Wachau — including the Ried Axpoint near Spitz on the Danube. The site is located in a wind-protected basin with a southwest-southern orientation, partly on level ground, on steep sections with up to 50% incline. Smaragd denotes the highest ripeness category in the Wachau — named after the emerald lizard that is native to the vineyards.

In the glass, luminous straw yellow with green reflections. The nose shows exotic fruit, herbs, and a hint of honey. On the palate, citrus, grapefruit, lively acidity, and a dense, powerful body — all well-integrated, with a mineral, long-lasting finish.

Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Pairs with zander from the Danube, Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad, or a mature mountain cheese.
